Ask in plain language — "make the titles punchier", "translate this slide to Spanish", "turn the second paragraph into bullets" — and it edits your slides for you. ## What it works on Based on what you have selected: the **selected text or shapes**, the **current slide**, the **selected slides**, or the **whole presentation**. It handles regular text, bulleted and numbered lists, bold/italic/underline, hyperlinks, and table contents. The bar above the message box shows what your next request applies to — for example, "Slide 3 selected". Click the **✕** next to it to work on all slides instead; selecting something else in PowerPoint switches back. ## Slides, presentations and images Beyond text, you can ask the agent to: * **Add a slide** or **redesign the selected slide.** The agent shows a few layout previews — the best match is marked **Recommended**. Tap one and the finished slide is inserted after your selection, or replaces the slide you're redesigning. * **Create a whole presentation** from a topic, pasted text, or a file you attach with the paperclip. Twistly picks the template, the number of slides and the language for you, and illustrates the slides with AI-generated images. The new slides are added to your open presentation. If a generation doesn't finish, tap **Retry**. To choose these settings yourself, create the presentation [from a topic](/create-a-presentation/from-a-topic.md) or [from text or a file](/create-a-presentation/from-text-or-file.md) instead. * **Generate an image.** Describe what you want to see; the image appears in the chat with **Insert** and **Regenerate** buttons. New and redesigned slides match your presentation's own template and colors, even if a different template is selected in the template picker. A presentation the agent creates for you is remembered the same way, so follow-up slides keep its style. ## Multi-step plans When one message asks for several different things — for example, rewrite slide 2, then translate the whole deck — the agent first proposes a plan of up to seven steps and changes nothing yet. 1. Review the plan and tap **Approve plan** or **Cancel plan**. Use the buttons: typing "OK" doesn't start the plan. 2. The agent carries out one step at a time. After each step, tap **Step N looks right** to continue, or **Step N needs a fix** and say what to change. 3. If a step needs a whole new presentation, the agent gives you a button that opens the create window already filled in. The step counts as done once those slides are inserted. Good to know: * While a plan is running, every step works on the whole presentation — clicking a slide to check a result doesn't narrow the next step. * Steps that need a subscription you don't have are left out of the plan, and the agent tells you which ones. * If only some of a step's changes could be applied, the reply says so — check the slide before you continue. * A plan belongs to the presentation it was made for. If you switch to another file, the agent tells you the plan was lost and asks how to continue. ## How it behaves * **Edits apply automatically.** When the agent proposes changes, they're written to your slides right away — a checkmark confirms it. Review the slide and use PowerPoint's undo if needed. * **It's honest about its limits.** The agent can't change fonts, colors or positions, or delete shapes — asked to, it says so. To redesign the whole presentation, it points you to [Redesign](/edit-and-improve-slides/redesign.md) with a shortcut. * **It asks before big operations.** Editing a very large presentation in one go prompts a confirmation first. * **The opening message matches your deck.** It offers what makes sense for an empty presentation, an empty slide, a slide with content, or selected text or images. After a [whole-presentation redesign](/edit-and-improve-slides/redesign.md), the chat opens with a summary of what was redesigned and suggests next steps. * **Opening the chat starts a new conversation.** Starting the add-in, the **Twistly Agent** button in the menu, and **Ask Twistly Agent** after a presentation is created all open an empty chat — tap either button whenever you want a fresh start. Your current conversation is kept when you return to the chat after creating or redesigning a presentation, or after closing a window you opened from the chat. A conversation left idle for about 3 days starts fresh. * You can set the **language the agent replies in**, rate replies, and stop a response mid-way. ## Practical notes * Messages can be up to 3,000 characters. * Attached files can be up to 300 MB, and pasted text up to 200,000 characters. * If the agent says it changed nothing, it explains why (nothing matched, content couldn't be edited, or the text was already as requested). * The chat is open on every plan; what it can do for you depends on your plan — see **Cost** below. ## Cost | What you ask for | Free | Starter, Pro, Team | | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------- | ------------------ | | Questions, slide and deck reviews, adding or removing table rows and columns, multi-step plans | ✓ | ✓ | | Rewriting or translating text, speaker notes, adding slides, redesigning slides, generating images | Upgrade prompt | ✓ | | Creating a presentation | 20 credits, only when it succeeds | ✓ (no credits) | * When something needs a plan you don't have, the agent still replies and an upgrade prompt opens. Suggestion buttons for those actions show the prompt as soon as you tap them. * On the Free plan, presentations created in the chat carry the "Made with Twistly" badge.
